Salvatore Di Lorenzo

Born in Palermo in 2003, he is a violinist and composer whose work spans performance, composition, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
A violin graduate of the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, where he studied with Prof. Kolja Blacher, and of the Yehudi Menuhin School in the UK, he combines a solo and chamber career with a growing catalog of original compositions.
As a violinist, Salvatore has appeared as a soloist with ensembles including the Anima Musicae Chamber Orchestra in Hungary and Strings Unlimited Bremen, where in 2025 he premiered his own Violin Concerto No. 1, The 20s.
In Italy he has been featured by institutions such as the Accademia Tedesca di Villa Massimo in Rome and the Associazione Siciliana Amici della Musica. He has also performed extensively for the Associazione Kaleidos Natale Patti, which awarded him the Premio Musica 2025.
He has performed in major venues across Europe -  Philharmonie Berlin, Konzerthaus Berlin, Pierre Boulez Saal, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, King’s Place London, and the Menuhin Hall - on both violin and viola, as soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player.
Festival appearances include Musethica International, the Hanns Eisler Chamber Music Festival, and the 74th Berlinale. He has collaborated with ensembles including the Karajan Akademie of the Berliner Philharmoniker, Boulez Ensemble Berlin, Sonar Quartett, Frielinghaus Ensemble, and the Pythagoras Ensemble.
As a composer, his works range from orchestral (Pezzo per Orchestra, Traffico, The 20s) to chamber and vocal music (Eve’s Dream, Midnight Dimension).
His Sicilian heritage remains central, reflected in works such as Follia Nuova, Recitativo, and the Distanza cycle, which draws on Sicilian traditional song and the poetry of Chiara Evola. In 2025 he created Miniatures, a cycle inspired by the abstract paintings of Uğur Karataş.

He has been awarded numerous national and international prizes, including recognition at the Premio Rodolfo Lipizer International Competition with Special Prize, as a Semifinalist. He was a Finalist at the Vth Ilona Fehér International Violin Competition (2024), 1st Prize at the Amigdala International Music Competition “Giuseppe Raciti” Award, 2nd Prize at the Malta International Music Competition, Semifinalist at the Ars Classica Competition (2025), as well as many other first prizes at national and international competitions.
He performs on his own 18th-century violin, from Southern Europe.
